Choosing and edge to edge quilting design can be a challenge but it’s one of my favorite parts of quilting. I look at the shapes in the quilt first, and then the fabric and overall style to inspire my pantograph choices. This quilt made by Shauna is adorable! The pattern is called Fall in Love by Basic Grey. The fabric is also by Basic Grey and is called Cider. The florals in Cider are realistic and organic looking. Take a look at my choices and see which one you would choose if this were your quilt.

Sunrise Clam pantograph was designed by me and is a modern take on a clamshell design. The gentle curve of the pantograph is calming and gentle. I like the way this curve mimics the curve on the top of a heart shape. This pantograph is beginner friendly and easy to line up! You can purchase the pantograph at the link below.
Hexagon Hills pantograph was designed by me. I love the repetition and the open diamond shape at the bottom of the hexagon which pops just a little when quilted. I chose this design because the soft angles work well with the angles in the quilt. Hexagon Hills has a clean and modern yet slightly sophisticated look.
Diamond Loops is a pantograph available from the Longarm League. I love when a straight line and curved line are paired together like in Diamond Loops. The diamond shape is classic and the loop gives it an interesting detail for a little bit of a softer look.
The best thing about the Simply Sunflowers pantograph is that it is a free design available from Intelligent Quilting. I chose this floral because the flower shape closely imitated the flowers in the fabrics.
I must confess that although I really love this edge to edge design, Dave’s Sunflowers is too modern of a floral for this quilt. I like to throw in a design each time that doesn’t quite work. I have used this design before and I loved it in a 16-patch quilt that I made from my daughter’s bed, so file it away for another quilt design.
Scallop fan is my original quilting design. It’s the design I created in my head before I even started making digital quilting designs. The repetition of the design is reliable, but the curves are a little unique making this design both cute and interesting.
I’m spilling the tea right here. If this were my quilt I would choose Topaz for the edge to edge quilting pantograph. I love these pettite southwest shaped jewels. This is one of my own designs and you can purchase it in the link below.
You may have noticed a pattern, and yes, I do love a good Baptist fan variation. Baptist Diamond Curved is great for when you need a diamond shape but you want to avoid harsh angles. This is a great pantograph designed by Julie Hirt.

My client Shauna chose Diamond Loops for the edge to edge design on her Fall in Love quilt. ThI am thrilled with the end result! The texture is amazing and the style fit the quilt very well.
